Fair Rating

See the true Google Maps rating of any German business.

Some businesses abuse German defamation law to mass-remove critical reviews. Google now shows how many reviews were removed — Fair Rating shows you what the rating would be if they hadn't been.

How it works

    Open a Google Maps business page. The extension runs on both google.com/maps and google.de/maps.

    Click the Reviews tab. If Google has removed reviews for that business under defamation law, a notice appears ("11 to 20 reviews removed due to defamation complaints").

    Read the adjusted rating. Fair Rating calculates what the star rating would be if the removed reviews had been left up — counted as 1-star votes by default (configurable).
The math
adjusted = (rating × total + assumed_star × removed) / (total + removed)

For capped banners ("more than 250"), the upper bound is estimated as max(500, total × 5%) so large businesses don't get a free pass.

Works in ~20 languages

Detection is keyword-based, so it works whenever Google shows the defamation notice, regardless of browser language:

Zero tracking

Fair Rating reads the rating data directly from the Google Maps page in your browser. It doesn't send anything anywhere. No analytics, no servers, no accounts. Your preference (assumed star value) is stored locally in Chrome.
